Ode to Foodclub - by Susanne Wiggins and Sally Zimmermann

Behind every thing, there's always a story,

Here's our Food Club, in it's guts and glory.

It started around group buys of milk that was raw,

The ladies liked the bulk purchase power they saw.

A few dead-ends later, they arrived at a plan,

for organizing sources, Adi was their man.

For divvying up vendors, and setting up splits,

paper or spreadsheets -- they'd be the pits.

Some web searches later, with Sally at the keys,

A solution emerged: foodclub.org would make it a breeze.

The beginning was modest -- two sources was all,

Tuscarora and Frontier were invited to call.

Sally's a whiz with searches,

but computers are not her thing,

Enter her family:  their skills made the software sing.

Initially products were entered by hand,

John and Scott programmed their magic to meet the demand.

The number of sources has upwardly soared,

To list them all out, we'd need a huge board.

We have grown to three chapters,

with members -- so many!

Our buys, added up,

show a mighty fine penny!

Like the big oak that starts from an acorn so small,

The club is fantastic from efforts of us all.

Not least are our farmers and producers of yummies,

Your nutrient-dense goodies nourish our tummies.

We know what we want to set out on our table.

Thanks to our Food Club, we are enabled!
